A gap in tracking updates does not necessarily mean your parcel is lost. Check the last scan, the expected delivery period and any message from the carrier. Have your tracking number and delivery address ready before asking for help.

Check the address before handover

Review the recipient name, street and unit, city, postal code, country and usable contact details in the parcel instruction itself. An account’s default address may be different, and editing that default may not change an instruction already submitted.

If something is wrong, contact the service immediately with the parcel identifier and the exact correction. Ask whether the parcel can still be held or amended, and request confirmation. After handover, available changes may depend on the carrier and service.

Keep the address confirmation and shipping instruction. They help establish what was requested if the label or delivery record later differs. Avoid sharing personal address information in public discussion threads when a private carrier enquiry is sufficient.

What common tracking updates mean

Label created
Shipment information exists, but that event alone does not confirm physical carrier collection. Look for a pickup or acceptance event.
Transit with no recent scan
Find the last location and time. An absence of new scans does not by itself prove loss. Compare with the stated service window and ask when an enquiry is appropriate.
Local delivery handover
There may be a separate local tracking number. Confirm which carrier now handles the parcel and whether it has requested an action.
Customs or delivery request
Read the stated reason and verify the instruction through the actual carrier or official channel. Do not infer a fee or a missing document from a generic status alone.

What to include when asking about a delayed parcel

Include the parcel number, service, last confirmed event and the relevant dates. Explain whether the issue is a missed expected window, a request you cannot understand or a delivery record you dispute. Ask for the next action and any case number.

Parcel [ID] last shows [event] at [location] on [date]. The stated delivery window has passed. I have checked the carrier tracking page and have not received an action request. Please confirm the current handling stage, whether an enquiry can be opened and the reference number.

Example tracking enquiry

Keep the response and follow the stated enquiry process. Repeatedly opening new requests without the earlier reference can make it harder to see what has already been investigated. If another party must act, ask who and what information they need.

Delivered does not always tell you where it was left

If tracking says delivered but the parcel is missing, check any available delivery proof, reception area, locker notification and the stated address. Ask household members or relevant building staff whether they accepted it. Record what you have already checked.

Contact the delivering carrier through its official channel and ask about the delivery location and available investigation. Then notify the ordering or shipping service with the carrier case number and the evidence. Do not assume the tracking label alone resolves whether you received the parcel.

Act promptly and ask for the applicable reporting deadline. The process and evidence required depend on the service and case; this guide cannot promise a particular outcome or compensation.

What to photograph if an item is damaged or missing

Photograph the outside, shipping label, protective packaging and all received contents, then take close views of the specific damage or missing-item concern. Keep the packaging and records while waiting for instructions. A close-up without the parcel context can leave important questions unanswered.

Compare what arrived with the packing record and the styles and sizes you ordered. Describe a missing item separately from a damaged item. Do not assign a cause that the evidence cannot establish; report what is visible and what differs from the record.

Send the enquiry promptly with the parcel identifier, photographs and a clear requested next step. Follow the responsible service’s current reporting instructions. Keep the support replies and any agreed refund, replacement or other solution with your order records. Check that the agreed action is completed before considering the case closed.
